RECSO Conference Proposal Workshop - Today 12.30pm

A reminder about Joe Davies’ conference proposal workshop today (13 June) at 12.30pm, Meeting Room 4 (ground floor) at the Radcliffe Humanities Building. The workshop will also include a buffet-style lunch.

This workshop’s aims to begin discussions about the shape of a revised conference proposal for the end-of-year RECSO conference, and to establish a team who will lead the application for the TORCH Interdisciplinary Graduate Conference Competition, and consequently organize the conference. We take as our starting point a previous proposal, ‘Global Connections: Influences from Elsewhere in Eighteenth-Century British Art, Literature, and Culture’, which RECSO was shortlisted for last year. The hope is, with a larger team, and with some refinement, the team can win the conference bid outright.

Joe Davies is already one of the organizers of the C.P.E. Bach Tercentenary Conference, a 2-day conference here in Oxford. In this RECSO workshop he will give a short talk on the ideas behind our previous proposal, the feedback we received from TORCH, and ask for your recommendations and ideas for the further development of the proposal. Of course, this is an excellent opportunity to take part in conference organisation - alongside someone with valuable experience in this area.
