At the Besterman Enlightenment Workshop on 24 February (Monday of Sixth Week), we will be discussing E.C. Spary’s recent book, ‘Eating the Enlightenment: Food and the Sciences in Paris, 1670-1760’ (Chicago, 2012). The book can be accessed via SOLO; we suggest that workshop attendees focus particularly on chapter 5, ‘The Philosophical Palate’. This is a change to the announced programme for the term, as our planned speaker will not be able to come to Oxford due to weather-related travel disruptions. The session will be held as usual at the Voltaire Foundation (99 Banbury Road) at 5 pm. All welcome!
