Researching the Eighteenth Century: Thursday 13 October 2016

Join us tomorrow for the first RECSO seminar of the term:

Thursday 13 October (Week 1) 12:30-2pm, Colin Matthew Room, Radcliffe Humanities. All welcome.

‘Translation and Research in Eighteenth-Century Studies’ Dr. Kelsey Rubin-Detlev, Queen’s College

Kelsey’s talk will discuss the importance of translation in eighteenth-century studies: as a daily part of our research, as a career option, and as a concept inherent in the material we study. She will then focus on the example of her current translation project in collaboration with Andrew Kahn, Catherine the Great’s Selected Letters for Oxford World’s Classics.

Dr Kelsey Rubin-Detlev is the Foote Junior Research Fellow in Russian at The Queen’s College. Her research focuses on the correspondence of Catherine the Great and on women’s letter writing in eighteenth-century Europe more broadly.
