Eighteenth-Century German Literature and the Italian Renaissance. Poetry, Philosophy, Religion.

This two-day conference is devoted to the reception of the Italian Renaissance in eighteenth-century German Literature. Participants include Oxford scholars as well as external speakers from Italy, Germany and the US, both senior and junior. Topics to be dealt with include general issues like translation and philology, as well as the reception of single figures such as Aretino, Machiavelli, Petrarch, and Tasso.

The event will take place at the Queen’s College, Oxford (Shulman Auditorium), on 16-17 June 2016.
Everybody is welcome, and undergraduates are encouraged to attend.
Free lunch will be served, but registration is required.
