Our final seminar will be taken by Naomi Billingsley who will discuss Blake’s watercolour, The Baptism of Christ (c.1803) as a case study in how reading Blake’s designs contributes to our understanding of his religious ideas. By comparing this watercolour to Blake’s other representations of this subject, I will consider how he creates a design which expresses ideas about Christ, God, and the Baptist in pictorial terms.
