Opportunity at Ham House, National Trust

The National Trust at Ham House in Richmond are looking to work with M.St., D.Phil and Early Career Researchers from the University of Oxford on an exciting project to re-interpret and re-display an important sequence of rooms within this exceptionally important seventeenth-century property.

We are looking for research consultants eager to participate in a half-day workshop at Ham House. This ‘story intervention’ workshop is designed to create focused, structured, and purposeful engagement between researchers and National Trust staff to help answer particular questions about a property’s collection, story or importance. For further details of the role, please see the Role Profile below.

This ‘Story Intervention’ will focus on re-interpreting Ham’s ‘Museum and Discovery’ rooms. For more details, please see the briefing document below.

This workshop would especially suit those researching:

  • seventeenth and early eighteenth-century ceremonial and domestic culture,
  • politics and society in Restoration and Caroline Britain,
  • seventeenth and early eighteenth-century architecture
  • the country house in Britain
  • history of collecting and material culture

This opportunity is only open to matriculated students and staff members at the University of Oxford.

To register your interest in participating in this exciting opportunity, please email Dr Oliver Cox (Knowledge Exchange Fellow at TORCH) [email protected]
