Two Visiting Scholars at the Bodleian, Richard Mulholland and Michael Suarez, will speak about their current research tonight, Thursday, Feb. 26.

These short talks will start at 5:15 in the Visiting Scholars’ Centre, on Level 2 of the Weston Library, and will be followed by an informal reception to finish by 7 pm.

Richard Mulholland is a Conservator in residence working on the Leverhulme-funded project to examine the watercolours made by Ferdinand Bauer for the early 19th-century publication Flora Graeca, one of the Bodleian’s scientific and artistic treasures. Richard is examining the use Bauer made of a ‘colour code’ to execute illustrations for the work in the field.

Michael Suarez, SJ, is the Lyell Lecturer in 2015, whose lectures in Trinity Term will be given under the title, “The Reach of Bibliography: Looking Beyond Letterpress in Eighteenth-Century Texts”. Professor Suarez is Director of Rare Book School, Professor of English, University Professor, and Honorary Curator of Special Collections at the University of Virginia.
