Prof. Ros Ballaster – Historicist Norms and the Argument for Aesthetics in Teaching the Eighteenth Century

The final session of this seminar series Professor Ros Ballaster will return to the question of ‘historicism’ in the contact of English Literature, reflecting upon whether such teaching strategise can lead students to lose sight of the distinctive aesthetic developments of the period.

The seminar take place within the Radcliffe Humanities Building on Woodstock Road; a free buffet lunch will be provided from 12:15pm. Talks will begin at 12:30pm and will be followed by a general discussion. We look forward to seeing you there.

To round off this seminar series RECSO will be hosting an evening event at All Souls College on Thursday 4th December, 5.30-7.30pm, in the Old Library*. This is a great opportunity to talk to the speakers, as well as socialise with RECSO’s breadth of members. We hope to see you there.

*N.B. The Old Library venue is only accessible via a steep flight of stairs. Following the RECSO members’ dinner the event will continue from 9pm onwards at the King’s Arms, 40 Holywell St., Oxford.
